The Story of "Lost & Found Highway"
It's been three years since our last album, but we have been busy! We began writing the songs for this collection a couple years ago (along with a bunch that didn't make the cut), and allowing them to take shape through recording, performing and re-arranging. We found East Coast based producer Graham Richman online, and began a remote partnership, excited that he could take our songs to some creative places we hadn't considered. We worked with Graham on our recorded demos, and then he flew out to LA for the recording session. We invited legendary drummer Mauricio “Fritz” Lewak and bassist Bob Glaub to lay down the rhythm section, along with the amazing Tom Fruend on upright bass, and recorded their tracks in two days at Fourth Street Recording in Santa Monica. After that whirlwind, we spent the better part of another year recording guitars, vocals, keyboards, string sections, horns and more in our Garden Studio, and remotely with Graham, as well as editing, mixing and mastering. Grammy nominated Kevin Smith mixed the album and the Grammy winning Gavin Lurssen mastered it. We are truly lucky to have gotten to work with these amazing folks!
To create the visual world for the album, we trekked out to our buddies Francisco and Mary's place in Joshua Tree and met up with Nashville-based photographer and artistic sorceress Anna Haas, who inspired us to bring the drama to our photo shoot! The contrast of the bold wardrobe with the dramatic, austere landscape made for some great shots, that inspired our designer and collaborator Gina Valona to create album artwork that incorporated different elements into a cohesive and exciting whole.
With the help of Kim Grant Music Press PR and Joe Estrada Los Dudes Record Promotion, we hope to run a successful release campaign, to get the album reviewed, and its songs played on radio across the country. This is the best way for us to really expand our audience, and get the music heard. We're asking for your support to help make this project a success! In return, we'll send you advance copies of the album (a month before everyone else!), more music and our thanks.
